BUS SHELTERS AS HEALTHY COMMUNITY NODES

Bus shelters are an important component of transit infrastructure.  Unfortunately, because of limited resources and/or site-engineering  constraints, not all bus stops have one in place in the eastern Coachella Valley.  This project intends to foster collaboration between health advocates, artists, non-profits, foundations, academics, designers, decision-makers, transportation planners and the local transit agency-SunLine.  This collaborative will explore viable solutions that can improve community health through preventing sun exposure and heat-related illnesses, generate economic development, create community assets and get the community involved through a creative community engagement process.
